The undefeated Morristown girls basketball team earned the No. 1 seed for the 2017 Morris County Tournament at a meeting on Sunday afternoon. The Colonials, who reached the final last winter and a 2015 semifinal, received a bye into the second round, along with second-seeded Jefferson, No. 3 Hanover Park, fourth seed Montville, and No. 5 Chatham.
“It’s nice because we worked hard. We’ve played a tough schedule,” Morristown coach Jim Pisciotto said. “We deserved it because we worked for it, and that’s the most important thing. Someone has to be No. 1, and it’s always nice to get it, but it really doesn’t mean anything.”
